At Down Home Farm, a quiet, pet-friendly place to land sits just outside Winnipeg near Starbuck, MB — a unique Manitoba stay set beneath the oaks on a private prairie property.
Shaped for couples, close friends, companions, beloved canines, or simply yourself — a stay designed for those seeking time away from everyday pace, guided by quiet and intention. Each stay is limited to two adults (18+), with a maximum of two dogs per booking.
At the heart of the experience is Sweet Caroline, our reimagined 1978 Airstream — a seasonal, off-grid stay that’s nostalgic, warm, and quietly character filled.

When you stay at Down Home Farm, the prairie wraps around you. Tucked off a quiet dirt road, the land opens wide — nestled within 120 acres of crop land, oak woodland, and a private stretch of meandering river — offering the kind of space that lets everything slow on its own.
Good times never seemed so good.
Out here, night settles softly. Mornings arrive without urgency. The quiet isn’t something you have to search for — it’s what happens when there’s room in every direction and the land is allowed to remain undisturbed.

A Quiet, Secluded Prairie Stay
Sweet Caroline, our reimagined 1978 Airstream, rests among mature oaks and offers a seasonal, off-grid stay shaped by warmth, character, and ease. Her place on the land was chosen intentionally — held by trees for shade and shelter, set back for quiet, and positioned with privacy in mind.
Her interior is boho with vintage soul, grounded by thoughtful modern touches — including a king-size bed chosen for comfort and sweet dreams.
Step outside and the experience continues: private river access, a hot open-air shower, a thoughtfully designed loo, prairie air moving through the trees, and space stretching well beyond Caroline’s door.
Whether you’re seeking a quiet getaway or simply time to yourself, this is a grounded pause — one that stays with you, even after you’ve gone.

Down Home Farm is now open for private stay bookings June through October 2026. The information below reflects what is currently included with your Stay.
Down Home Farm is fully off-grid, so while you’ll have the comforts we’ve included, traditional electrical power isn’t available on the property.
Sweet Caroline is thoughtfully prepared for your arrival. Much of what you need is already here.
Inside Sweet Caroline
- King-size bed with linens and extra blanket
- Bath towels
- Solar-powered lighting
- Built-in 12V USB charging outlets for phones and other small devices
- Ice chest, pre-cooled with an ice block
- Coffee press with coffee, whitener, sugar, sweetener
- Kettle for boiling water
- Drinking water (one 4L jug provided)

- Drinking glasses and mugs
- Cookware (pots and pans)
- Cooking utensils
- Salt, pepper, canola oil, white vinegar, basic spices
- Dish cloths and basic cleaning supplies
- Kitchen sink with manual pump and water provided for dishwashing and light kitchen use
- Portable battery-powered fan (available for hot nights)

- No heat or air conditioning — wraparound windows and mature oak shade help keep the space comfortable in season
- No Wi-Fi — cell service is generally sufficient, depending on provider

* September 2026: Due to an exceptionally wet start to the season, mosquitoes have been more noticeable than usual this year. Activity has now eased, but they can still surface at times, particularly around sunrise and sunset, when there is little to no wind, and in certain areas of the property. An insect repellent is recommended for your comfort and protection. We personally use and recommend OFF! Deep Woods (aerosol), and find it to be very effective.
The screened-in veranda is a great place to relax during peak mosquito hours, and we definitely recommend lighting a campfire. The smoke makes a noticeable difference.
